Villa Montanari
also called Dei Merli Palace
This villa reminds of the medieval castle with ghibellini battlements and that’s the reason why it is also called “Dei Merli Palace” (in Italian “merli” means battlements or crenellated walls). The villa dates back to the second half of the fifteenth century and it belonged to the Montanari family who owned more than five hundred fields here. During a restoration work some frescoes dating back to 1480 were found: they represented mythological figures and coats-of-arms of important families related to the Montanari family: the Giusti, Verità and Maffei families.
